How to pick the right quality of blue sapphire?

Unlike diamonds, there is no fixed grading chart for sapphires but there are a few characteristics that can help you make the right choice.


  1. Color:


The most valued blue sapphires are velvety blue to violetish blue, in medium to medium-dark tones known as cornflower. Sapphires with these qualities command the highest prices per carat.













Less valuable blue sapphires are either too light













or too dark











2. Treatment :


If there is no form of treatment done on the sapphire, it is more valuable. The sapphire here is a un-heated Thai sapphire
